Abstract:

An image forming device 1 comprises: an attachment port 70 to which a toner unit 30 is detachably attached, the toner unit including a fuse 35 composed of a plurality of elements 37a to 37c arranged in parallel which breaks when energized; a detection unit (control unit 91) for detecting the number of unbroken elements among the elements 37a to 37c; a storage unit 92 for storing the preset number of unbroken genuine elements; and a control unit 91 for making a first determination of determining that the toner unit 30 attached to the attachment port 70 is genuine if the number of unbroken elements detected by the detection unit matches the preset number of unbroken elements stored in the storage unit 92, and determining that the toner unit 30 is not genuine if the number of unbroken elements does not match the preset number of unbroken elements.
