Abstract:
An image-forming device (100) capable of connecting to a network is equipped with: a non-volatile auxiliary storage unit (140) for storing firmware which causes the image-forming device (100) to function; an alteration detection unit (111) which is stored in the auxiliary storage unit (140) and determines whether or not the firmware has been altered by using a digital signature; a firmware restoration unit (112) for deleting firmware which is determined to have been altered and installing firmware provided by another image-forming device (200); a firmware-providing unit (113); and a control unit (110). Therein, the auxiliary storage unit (140) stores firmware which functions as the alternation detection unit (111), the firmware restoration unit (112), the firmware-providing unit (113) and the control unit (110) in a boot block to which writing is restricted.
