Abstract:
Provided is a technique with which it is possible to reduce the time and effort for a user when replacing a consumable cartridge. A control unit 80 is capable of executing a drum replacement necessity determination process and a mode switching process. The drum replacement necessity determination process determines whether a drum cartridge 20 needs to be replaced, on the basis of service life information of the drum cartridge 20. The mode switching process switches between a normal printing mode and an extended printing mode. In the normal printing mode, if replacement of the drum cartridge 20 is determined to be unnecessary, an image forming device 1 can be caused to execute a printing process. In the extended printing mode, in a state in which replacement of the drum cartridge 20 is necessary, the image forming device 1 can be caused to execute the printing process on the condition that a developing cartridge 30 mounted in a frame 11 has not been exchanged for another developing cartridge 30.
