Abstract:

This image forming method comprises: a step for forming a metallic luster layer by applying an inkjet ink onto a substrate; and a step for forming a protective layer which is in contact with the metallic luster layer, and which contains a resin. The inkjet ink contains metal nanoparticles, a polymer dispersant that is adsorbed on the surfaces of the metal nanoparticles, a water-dispersible resin, and a solvent that contains water; and the inkjet ink satisfies relational expression (1) 1.5 ≤ M1/(M2 + M3) ≤ 20, if M1 (mass%) is the content of the metal nanoparticles, M2 (mass%) is the content of the polymer dispersant, and M3 (mass%) is the content of the water-dispersible resin.
