Abstract:
An image forming method comprises: a step of applying a preprocessing liquid containing a compound for flocculating a coloring agent in an ink composition and water insoluble resin particles of which the content Z relative to the whole mass of the preprocessing liquid satisfies formula (3): 10 mass% ≤ the content Z ≤ 20 mass% onto a recording medium having a surface with arithmetic average roughness Ra1 thereof satisfying formula (1): 2.6 μm ≤ Ra1 to form a processing liquid applying surface with arithmetic average roughness Ra2 thereof satisfying formula (2): Ra2 ≤ 2.6 μm; and a step of applying the ink composition containing the coloring agent and water onto the processing liquid applying surface of the recording medium according to an ink jet method.
