Abstract:

[Problem] To provide an image information processing system that allows a user to retrieve the name and the like of an imaged object with high retrieval accuracy using a captured image, even if the user does not know the name and the like of the imaged object. [Solution] The present invention has the following: an image database 11 that stores image data for collation, which consists of an imaged object for collation that has been captured, by associating identification information including the name of the object with such data; an image acquisition unit 12 that acquires image data; a retrieval target input receiving unit 13 that receives the selection of a retrieval object from the image data; an image retrieval processing unit 14 that computes the degree of similarity between the retrieval object and the imaged object for collation, and retrieves image data for collation for which the degree of similarity exceeds a reference value; a display processing unit 15 that displays the retrieval results; and a retrieval results processing unit 16 that receives a selection input from the user with regard to the retrieval results and, taking the image data acquired by the image acquisition unit 12 to be image data for collation, stores such data in the image database 11 by associating the data with identification information in the retrieval results with regard to which the input selection from the user was received.
