Abstract:
This image interpolation device is equipped with: a first processing unit that obtains errors in image data between a patch to be interpolated that overlaps with a mask area and reference patches that do not overlap with the mask area; a second processing unit that calculates feature quantities that indicate the level of flatness of each patch area from the image data; a third processing unit that obtains an error between the feature quantities; a fourth processing unit that determines the reference patch with the smallest error on the basis of the results from the first processing unit and third processing unit; and a fifth processing unit that pastes pixel data in the reference patch selected by the fourth processing unit onto the patch to be interpolated. The third processing unit calculates the feature quantity error by comparing the feature quantity of the area of the patch to be interpolated other than the mask area with the feature quantity of the entire area of a reference patch.
