The present invention relates to an image monitoring apparatus for displaying, on a screen, information on an event having occurred in an area excluding a display area, with respect to a monitoring area, which is photographed by a camera, and the display area to be displayed on the screen in the monitoring area. The present invention displays, on the screen, detailed information on the occurred event, such as the location of the occurred event and the type of event such that a user can immediately respond to the occurred event. According to the present invention, since the user can receive the detailed information on the event, which has occurred in the area excluding the display area, it is possible to visually confirm the event by immediately switching the screen to the location of the occurred event. Therefore, the user can rapidly respond to the occurred event. In addition, according to the present invention, when the wide monitoring area is photographed by a high resolution camera, a fisheye lens camera, or a plurality of cameras, the efficiency of the monitoring system can be enhanced through the intense monitoring of the display area.
