Abstract:
An image pickup device (1) comprises a subject database (12), a composition database (14), a determination unit (4), a search unit (6), a priority level setting unit (8) and a display unit (10). The subject database (12) stores data obtained by associating image feature quantities with subject types. The composition database (14) stores data obtained by associating the subject types with composition assist information. The determination unit (4) determines a subject type of captured image data on the basis of both an image feature quantity, which has been extracted from the captured image data, and the data stored in the subject database (12). The search unit (6) detects, from the composition database (14) and on the basis of the subject type, composition assist information that is in accordance with the captured image data. The priority level setting unit (8) sets a priority level to the composition assist information on the basis of the difference between characteristic information extracted from the captured image data and characteristic information extracted from sample image data of the composition assist information. The display unit (10) displays the composition assist information according to the priority level.
