Abstract:

Provided is an image pickup element that comprises: a microlens; a photoelectric conversion unit that photoelectrically converts light which has passed through the microlens and thereby generates a charge; and a reflection unit that reflects a portion of the light which passed through the photoelectric conversion unit in a direction which passes through the photoelectric conversion unit and is parallel to the optical axis of the microlens, and in a direction towards the photoelectric conversion unit.
