Abstract:
This image pickup element is provided with a first substrate, a second substrate, first pixels, and second pixels which are irradiated with light that has passed through the first pixels. Each of the second pixels has a first PN junction surface that is in parallel to a light receiving surface, and a second PN junction surface, which is in parallel to the light receiving surface, and which is at a position deeper than the first PN junction surface, said second pixels generating, from charges obtained at the second PN junction surface, second signals corresponding to light of a second wavelength band.
