Abstract:
An image pickup optical system 10 is provided with, in the following order from the object side, a first lens group Gr1, an aperture stop ST, and a second lens group Gr2. The first lens group Gr1 is substantially configured from, in the following order from the object side, a first lens L1 having negative refractive power, a second lens L2 having negative refractive power, a third lens L3 having positive refractive power, and a fourth lens L4 having positive refractive power. Three lenses out of the four lenses of the first lens group Gr1 are formed of a plastic material, the second lens group Gr2 has at least one lens, which is formed of a plastic material, and which has positive refractive power, and at least one lens, which is formed of a plastic material, and which has negative refractive power, and the image pickup optical system satisfies conditional formula (1) relating to value F×Σ(1/fplk), where the value F represents the focal point distance of the whole system, and the value fplk represents the focal point distance of the k
