Abstract:
An image pickup tube has an indium ring arranged around the inner periphery of a ring-shaped electrode interposed between the front end of the tubular part of an image pickup tube body and a face plate to seal the tubular part and the face plate, and a support for a field mesh electrode is arranged facing the face plate within the indium ring, thereby providing a mechanical support for the field mesh electrode and leading in the current-feeding terminal. In this structure, a transparent conductive film, to which a target potential arranged over the inner surface of the face plate is applied, is provided with a field-intrusion prevention zone formed so as to surround substantially the entire outer part around the outside of the electron beam scanning range, and with a part between the electron beam scanning zone and the field-intrusion prevention zone from which the film is deflected. In this manner, the influence of the electric field due to the indium ring can be prevented, thereby avoiding any increase in the floating capacitance.
