Abstract:

This image pickup unit for an endoscope comprises the following: on a front surface of the image pickup unit, an image pickup element in which a plurality of electrode pads are arrayed along one lateral surface; and a circuit substrate on which a lead group, tip parts of which connect to the plurality of electrode pads, extends from an end face of the substrate. The image pickup unit for an endoscope is characterized by the following: the end face of the circuit substrate is disposed farther back than the back surface of the image pickup element; the lead group comprises one or plurality of first leads, having at least a lead connected to an image pickup element reference potential or a dummy lead not having an electrical function, and second leads; and the shortest distance between the first lead and an angle section at which the back surface and the lateral surface of the image pickup element intersect is shorter than the shortest distance between all the second leads and the angle section.
