An image processing apparatus 10 is provided with: an interface 12 for acquiring stereo images including a base image and a reference image taken from different viewpoints; and a processor 13 for calculating a parallax by performing, with respect to the acquired base image and reference image, low rank-approximation using singular value decomposition, and by performing stereo matching between the base image and the reference image after the low rank-approximation using singular value decomposition.
