Abstract:
In order to generate a high definition composite image in which artifacts due to misalignment are suppressed, an image processing unit (9) according to the present invention is provided with an alignment amount calculation unit (29) which calculates the amount of misalignment of each pixel of a derived image with respect to a reference image, and an image synthesis unit (31) which integrates together the reference image and an image that is produced by transforming the derived image on the basis of the calculated amount of misalignment of each pixel of the derived image, wherein the alignment amount calculation unit (29) is provided with: a multiple-plane projective transformation matrix calculation unit which calculates a projective transformation matrix for each plane of a plurality of planes in the derived image that exhibit different amounts of pixel misalignment with respect to the reference image; a plane selection unit which generates a plane map by selecting a plane to which each pixel of the derived image belongs and also selecting a projective transformation matrix to be applied to each selected plane, on the basis of difference values between the reference image and a plurality of alignment images that are produced by transforming the derived image using said calculated projective transformation matrices; a selection error reduction processing unit which suppresses projective transformation matrix selection errors; and a calculation processing unit which calculates an amount of pixel misalignment for each plane on the basis of a plane map in which projective transformation matrix selection errors are suppressed.
