The present invention separates an image signal corresponding to infrared light from an image signal corresponding to visible light including an infrared light signal even when an image is captured using infrared light irradiation. An exposure control unit alternately repeats a first frame in which an exposure time is set to a predetermined first exposure time and a second frame in which the exposure time is set to a second exposure time longer than the first exposure time. An infrared light irradiation control unit causes infrared light irradiation in a predetermined infrared light irradiation period less than or equal to the total period of the first frame and the second frame. An image signal acquisition unit acquires a first image signal that is an image signal in the first frame, and a second image signal that is an image signal in the second frame. An extraction unit extracts, from the first image signal and the second image signal, visible light intensity per unit time and infrared light intensity per unit time. A generation unit generates an image signal corresponding to visible light and an image signal corresponding to the infrared light on the basis of the visible light intensity per unit time and the infrared light intensity per unit time.
