A hard disc drive (50) stores hierarchical data (116) of an image, a speed map (118) which holds for each tile image an index of processing time required for drawing the tile image which is obtained by dividing the image into a given size, and scenario data (119) defining the movement of viewpoint. In a control unit (100a) of a data processing device which makes it possible to display the image, an input data obtaining unit (102) obtains data associated with the operation performed by a user using an input device (20). A loading unit (108) loads from the hard disc drive (50) the data required for displaying the image. A movement condition adjusting unit (104) adjusts the movement speed of the viewpoint on the basis of the speed map. A frame coordinate determination unit (105) sequentially determines a frame coordinate in a display region. A decoding unit (106) decodes compressed image data. A display image processing unit (114) is provided to draw the display image.
