Abstract:
Provided is a technique that is capable of improving image quality by utilizing the dynamic range of a panel when images are displayed that are indicated by signals of a maximum luminance that is lower than the panel peak luminance. A image processing device (2, 11) is provided with: a conversion unit (6) that converts values, among gradation values taken by respective pixels in image signals, which are equal to or lesser than a gradation value corresponding to the maximum luminance level, into luminance values; and an adjustment unit (7) that carries out adjustment so as to raise a luminance value, among the luminance values, that is equal to or greater than a prescribed value.
