Abstract:
A determination environment information acquiring unit 31 acquires incident polarization information regarding a light source in a material determination environment. A determination object information acquiring unit 32 acquires exit polarization information from a polarization image obtained by capturing an image of an object of material determination in the material determination environment. A determination processing unit 34 can determine the material of the object of material determination on the basis of: the incident polarization information acquired by the determination environment information acquiring unit 31; the exit polarization information acquired by the determination object information acquiring unit 32; and material polarization property information pre-stored in an information storage unit 33, that is, material polarization property information indicating, for each material, a polarization reflection property for each of an incident direction of incident polarized light and an exit direction of reflected light.
