Abstract:
An image processing device comprising: a mask image generation unit for specifying, from an image, a region in which the luminance value is higher than a specific value as a mask region, and generating a mask image in which the luminance values of regions other than the mask region are set to zero; a mask expansion processing unit for specifying a portion of peripheral regions of the mask region in the mask image that satisfies a condition with respect to luminance and expanding the mask region to the peripheral regions other than the specified portion; a smoothed image generation unit for smoothing the luminance values of the entire image and generating a luminance-value-smoothed image; a correction image generation unit for specifying a region in the luminance-value-smoothed image that matches the post-expansion mask region and generating a correction image in which the luminance values of regions other than the specified region are set to zero; and an image synthesis unit for synthesizing the correction image with the image and generating a new image.
