Abstract:
Provided are a device and a method for detecting a dynamic region by analyzing a single image consisting of long-time exposure pixels and short-time exposure pixels. The device has a signal processing unit that receives a single image captured by an imaging element including long-time exposure pixels and short-time exposure pixels and analyses the input image to detect a dynamic region where an image of a moving subject is captured. The signal processing unit verifies the consistency between a light-dark pattern in the vicinity of an attention pixel of the input image and a pixel pattern of the long-time exposure pixels and short-time exposure pixels and, when the consistency is high, determines that the attention pixel is in the dynamic region. When a high dynamic range image is generated by a pixel value combining process for combining the pixel values of the long-time exposure pixels and short-time exposure pixels, the signal processing unit also executes the pixel value combining process in different modes between a dynamic region and the region other than the dynamic region.
