Abstract:
Provided are a device and method which generate a high dynamic range image by compositing pixels of an image formed from long-duration exposure pixels and short-duration exposure pixels. An image processing device comprises: an edge detection unit which executes an edge detection on each configuration pixel of an inputted image including long-duration exposure pixels and short-duration exposure pixels; a centroid correction unit which executes a centroid correction process of the long-duration exposure pixels and the short-duration exposure pixels which are objects of compositing; and a pixel compositing unit which executes a compositing process upon pixels which are generated by the centroid correction unit. The pixel composition unit selects the most suitable compositing result for a circumstance of each pixel from a result of flat part compositing wherein a blend rate (α) is applied corresponding to pixel values of the long-duration exposure pixels, a result of edge part compositing wherein a fixed blend rate is applied, and a result of saturation part compositing which is suited to a saturation part region, and generates and outputs a high dynamic range (HDR) image on the basis of the selected compositing result.
