Abstract:
In synthesizing a first image and a second image having different exposure conditions and synthesizing a wide dynamic range, pixel values for the first and second images are generated as first and second index values (Sa, Lb), in which a cumulative frequency rate (B) constitutes first and second reference values, and controls first and second exposure amounts (ES, EL) assuming, as first and second target conditions, that each of the first and second index values (Sa, Lb) has a predetermined relation with respect to first and second target values (Sat, Lbt). It is possible to reduce the time for the exposure amounts to converge with respect to a change in the brightness of a subject.
