Abstract:
Provided are a method and device for generating a high-quality SDR image without a significant drop in average image brightness by performing matrix conversion with respect to an HDR image. The image signal processing unit that converts the HDR image to the SDR image applies a single conversion matrix for low brightness area pixels at or below a stipulated threshold value from among pixels that constitute the HDR image, to convert the pixel values of the HDR image into pixel values of the SDR image. High brightness area pixels having a brightness higher than the stipulated threshold value are set as the maximum output pixels of the converted SDR image. The conversion matrix that is applied is a matrix in which the rate of change in memory colors set in the Macbeth color chart is set to a lower level.
