This image processing device 3 is provided with: a single-staining image calculation unit 361 for calculating, from a stained specimen image arrived at by imaging a specimen subjected to two or more types of staining, single-staining images for each staining; a staining area extraction unit 366 for carrying out, in order from the staining having the highest specificity, extraction processing for extracting a staining area stained using a given staining from the single-staining image for the given staining; a single-staining image correction unit 367 for carrying out—for all second stainings, which are at least one type of staining other than a first staining that has the highest specificity, and in order from the second staining having the highest specificity—correction processing for correcting the single-staining image for a given staining by removing therefrom the staining areas of all the stainings having higher specificity than the given staining; and an analysis unit 368 for carrying out image analysis on the basis of the staining areas. When extracting the staining areas stained using the second stainings, the staining area extraction unit 366 extracts a staining area stained using a given staining from the corrected single-staining image arrived at by carrying out the correction processing on the single-staining image for the given staining.
