Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an image processing device, an image processing method, a program, and a remote communication system that make it possible to provide a pleasing user experience with a smaller amount of computation. From an image of a user facing the front of a display device, picked up by an image pick-up device from a direction other than the front of said user, a face region in which the user's face is pictured and a torso region in which the user's torso is pictured are detected. Subsequently, a frontal face image in which the user's face seems to have been picked up from the front is generated on the basis of the face region, a correction is made, on the basis of the torso region, to a frontal torso image in which the user's torso seems to have been picked up from the front, and the frontal face image and the frontal torso image are combined. The present technology can be applied to a remote communication system, for example.
