Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an image processing device, an image processing method, a program, and a remote communication system which can achieve remote communication with more optimized image quality. This image processing device is provided with: an adjustment amount acquisition unit which acquires an adjustment amount for adjusting the image quality of an image; and a parameter optimization unit which adaptively obtains, as adjustment parameters for determining the adjustment amount, a transmission-side adjustment parameter for adjusting the image quality on the side where the image is captured and transmitted, and a reception-side adjustment parameter for adjusting the image quality when receiving and displaying the image, on the basis of the balance of the image between the transmission side and the reception side. Then, through the transmission-side and reception-side processing based on the adaptively obtained adjustment parameters, an image conversion process for converting the image is performed. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a remote communication system.
