Abstract:
A polarized image acquiring unit 11a acquires polarized images of a target object in one or more polarization directions. A polarization parameter acquiring unit 12-1 calculates a luminance average α of a polarization model on the basis of a non-polarized image after sensitivity correction. Further, the polarization parameter acquiring unit 12-1 calculates an amplitude β of the polarization model on the basis of the calculated luminance average α, a pre-stored zenith angle θ of a normal line to the target object, refractive index r, and reflection characteristic information indicating which of diffuse reflection and specular reflection is the subject. A polarization model detecting unit 13-1 is capable of detecting a polarization characteristic of the target object using the polarized images in one or more polarization directions, by calculating a phase φ of the polarization model on the basis of the polarized images of the target object in one or more polarization directions, the luminance average α, and the amplitude β of the polarization model.
