Abstract:
The present invention enables quantization processing by which better graininess is obtained. This image processing device generates image data to be outputted to an image formation device for recording an image by ink dots formed by discharging ink onto a recording medium, and is characterized by being provided with: a generation means which, on the basis of an input image, generates generation quantity data indicating, regarding the ink dots of at least one or more types corresponding to the ink, the respective generation quantities of the ink dots of the at least one or more types on a pixel-by-pixel basis, and dot generation quantity data corresponding to blank dots in which the ink dots are not formed, and indicating gradient information of the blank dots on a pixel-by-pixel basis; and a processing means which performs quantization processing using the generation quantity data corresponding to the ink dots of the one or more types and the dot generation quantity data of the blank dots, and determines a dot arrangement pattern indicating the respective arrangements of the ink dots of the one or more types.
