Abstract:
When an input image is up-converted to increase the number of image pixels and the input image is sharpened by generating a frequency component higher than a frequency component included in an input image signal representing the input image, the number of multipliers is decreased so as to achieve significant decrease in device size and cost. An image processing device includes a basic image-side route for up-conversion of an input image signal, and a sharpening process-side route for non-linear computing processing of the input image signal. In the sharpening process-side route, an up-converter is disposed in a stage subsequent to at least one filter, and the non-linear computing processing is performed after the up-converter. The at least one filter may be a two-dimensional low-pass filter for noise removal, or a high-pass filter for removing at least a direct-current component of the frequency component of the input signal.
