The purpose of the invention is to sharpen images, by a frequency component that exceeds the Nyquist frequency. This image processing device (100) generates an output image obtained by sharpening an input image, the image processing device (100) being provided with: a first nonlinear processing unit (101) for performing nonlinear processing of an input signal representing an input image, generating a first signal; a sharpening process block (102) for performing a sharpening process on the first signal, generating a second signal including a frequency component higher than the frequency component included in the first signal; and an adder (103) for adding the second signal to the input image signal, generating an output image signal representing the output image.
