Abstract:
The present technology pertains to an image processing device and an image processing method, with which the amount of memory used can be reduced while suppressing degradation of an image noise reduction effect. The image processing device is equipped with: a reduced image generation unit for generating n (n being equal to one or more) reduced images by reducing the size of an original image in stages; a noise reduction unit for reducing a noise component in a predetermined frequency band of the original image; a noise extraction unit for performing parallel processing for extracting noise components in predetermined frequency bands of the reduced images, respectively; a noise synthesis unit for synthesizing the noise components extracted from each of the the reduced images; and a subtraction unit for subtracting the synthesized noise component from the noise-reduced original image. The present technology can be applied, for example, to an image processing device for reducing noise in an image.
