The image processing device is equipped with: a prediction means for specifying a prediction region upon predicting the position of an object in the current frame from the position of the object in the preceding frame; a determination means for determining, on the basis of the distance of the object in the preceding frame, whether the object is at a first distance or at a second distance which is longer than the first distance; a first matching processing means for performing template matching in order to detect the object in the prediction region by using a first template pertaining to the object in the preceding frame when the object is determined as being present at the first distance; and a second matching processing means for performing template matching in order to detect the object in the prediction region by using a second template, which is different from the first template pertaining to the object in the preceding frame, when the object is determined as being present at the second distance.
