Abstract:
An edge extraction section (66) of a contour image generating section (22) generates an edge image of an input image (62) by means of an edge extracting filter or the like. A foreground processing section (68) generates an expanded foreground image in which the foreground is expanded after the extraction of the foreground from the input image (62) by using a background image (64). Furthermore, the foreground processing section (68) generates a foreground boundary image consisting of the boundary line of an expanded foreground area. A mask section (70) masks the edge image with the expanded foreground image to remove the edges of the background. A combining section (72) combines the masked edge image with the foreground boundary image to generate a contour image.
