Abstract:
[Problem] To enable the recognition, with relatively high accuracy, of the end of a queue formed in front of an entrance gate, ticket machine, or the like, and to estimate waiting time for said queue on the basis thereof. [Solution] Non-static body pixels extracted from a series of frames constituting a video are segmented into pixel clusters, which are formed by consolidating neighboring pixels into a single cluster. In conjunction with this, among said segmented pixel clusters, a series of pixel clusters that are adjacent to each other in the predetermined direction in which the queue extends is stored as a single group of pixel clusters. The farthest point in the predetermined direction in which the queue extends is searched for among the pixel clusters belonging to the one pixel cluster group, and this point is stored as a candidate end of the queue. When the stored farthest point changes between continuous frames in such a way as to exceed the predetermined allowance, said farthest point, which was stored as a candidate end of the queue, is confirmed as the true farthest point on the basis of the direction of the change as well as post-change stability.
