Abstract:
A pattern matching processing unit (10) binarizes an input image data, compares the binarized pattern with patterns for matching for each group, and outputs either information of the corresponding group or information that no corresponding group exists. Filters from 0-degree direction correspondence (21) through 135-degree direction correspondence (24), which are disposed in correspondence with each group, carry out a smoothing process according to the edge direction of the image. When the information from the pattern matching processing unit (10) is one of the groups, a selector (30) selects the output from the filters from 0-degree direction correspondence (21) to 135-degree direction correspondence (24) that corresponds to the group in question and treats same as output image data (2). If no match for the information exists, the selector (30) treats the input image data (1), as is, as the output image data (2).
