Abstract:
An image processing device capable of appropriately removing or reducing noise from input images of various resolutions is provided. This image processing device is equipped with: a contour direction estimation unit (21) for estimating a contour direction, which is indicated by a fixed signal value, on a pixel-by-pixel basis; a low-pass filter unit (20a) for smoothing the signal value of each pixel on the basis of the signal value of a reference pixel which is arranged in the pixel's contour direction estimated by the contour direction estimation unit, said reference pixel being a pixel located inside a reference area corresponding to the pixel; and a parameter determination unit (20b) for determining the intensity of smoothing to be applied by the low-pass filter unit in accordance with an enlargement ratio which is obtained on the basis of the resolution of an input image signal and the resolution of an output image signal.
