Abstract:
An image processing device (1000) equipped with a luminance dispersion detection unit (1), an angular dispersion detection unit (2), an image region detection unit (3), and an image processing unit (4). The luminance dispersion detection unit (1) detects the degree of variation in pixel values in a pixel reference region containing a pixel of interest and the pixels around the pixel of interest. The angular dispersion detection unit (2) obtains a contour direction, for which the pixel value is constant, for each pixel in the pixel reference region, and detects the degree of variation in the obtained contour directions. The image region detection unit (3) obtains an image region detection signal indicating the characteristic of the image region containing the pixel of interest, on the basis of the degree of variation in the pixel values and the degree of variation in the contour directions. The image processing unit (4) executes prescribed image processing with respect to the pixel of interest on the basis of the image region detection signal.
