Abstract:
A character edge area specification unit (21) specifies a character edge area in input image data. An output image processing unit (12) executes, on pixels of interest, image processing for adjusting the consumption of toner in accordance with the number of continuous edge pixels (pixels that belong to the character edge area and are continuous) that are included in a reference window centered around the pixels of interest within the specified character edge area, and the average value of pixel values of the continuous edge pixels.
