This image processing device (100) is provided with a connection detection unit (130), an image processing unit (110), a connected scope determination unit (140), and a reconfiguration control unit (150). The connection detection unit (130) detects the connection state of an endoscope. The image processing unit (110) processes image data obtained from an endoscope (210) and is configurable according to the class of endoscope. When the endoscope (210) is connected, the connected scope determination unit (140) determines whether or not the currently connected endoscope belongs to the same class as the endoscope connected just prior thereto. The reconfiguration control unit (150) reconfigures the image processing unit (110) according to the class of endoscope in the case when the currently connected endoscope (210) and the endoscope (210) connected just prior thereto belong to different classes, but does not reconfigure the image processing unit (110) in the case when the currently connected endoscope and the endoscope connected just prior thereto belong to the same class.
