Provided are an image processing method, an apparatus, and an image recording apparatus capable of reducing the occurrence of beating when line unevenness correction other than non-ejection correction of a recording element is performed in any nozzle layout shape. The image processing method is provided with: an abnormality detection step of detecting an abnormality for each recording element in a recording head in which a plurality of recording elements are arranged; a hiding step of, in order to correct an image failure resulting from an abnormal recording element for which an abnormality has been detected in accordance with the result of detection in the abnormality detection step, modulating the concentration of each pixel recorded on a recording medium by means of correction recording elements including the abnormal recording element to hide the image failure; and a quantization step of performing quantization of an image recorded on the recording medium, the quantization being performed to place a peak frequency component of the quantization in a frequency band excluding an adjacent frequency band of a spatial frequency peak in a correction region representing a pixel group of which the concentration has been modulated in the hiding step and which is recorded on the recording medium by means of the correction recording elements.
