Abstract:
For the purpose of reducing noise without reducing contrast and generating a high quality image, an image processor (1) according to the present invention is provided with: an edge strength detection unit (2) for detecting edge strength information representing the edge strength of an acquired image; a first noise reduction unit (3) for executing a noise reduction process on an image using spatial information; a second noise reduction unit (4) for executing a noise reduction process on an image using frequency information; and an image synthesis unit (5) for synthesizing an image after first processing and an image after second processing. In a region where the edge strength is greater than a prescribed threshold, the image synthesis unit (5) synthesizes images using weighting such that the synthesis ratio of the image after first processing is greater than the synthesis ratio of the image after second processing, and in a region where the edge strength is smaller than the threshold, the image synthesis unit (5) synthesizes images using weighting such that the synthesis ratio of the image after second processing is greater than the synthesis ratio of the image after first processing.
