Abstract:
An automatic document feeder (6) is provided with a document feeding route (23), and a feeding unit cover (39) which is rocked to open and close the first-half route (37) of the document feeding route (23) is provided over the feeding route (23). On the second-half route (38), a plurality of pairs of driving rollers (57, 59) and driven rollers (58, 60) which feed the document toward a paper ejection port (28) are provided. A paper jam elimination mechanism which separates the driven rollers (58, 60) or the driving rollers (57, 59) in a nip-releasing direction is provided on the second-half route (38). The paper jam elimination mechanism is composed of: a cam frame (70) which is slid and displaced in the direction in which the driven rollers (58, 60) and the driving rollers (57, 59) align, in synchronization with opening and closing of the feeding unit cover (39); and a releasing body (71) which is operated to reciprocate in synchronization with the sliding operation of the cam frame (70).
