Abstract:
Provided is an image reading device capable of shortening the image reading time of an entire reading medium. This image reading device (1) has a line sensor (11), an illumination unit (12), a drive unit (20), and a control unit (40). The line sensor (11) reads in a bar shape, in a main scanning direction, an image on a medium mounted on a mounting surface. The illumination unit (12) irradiates the mounting surface with a fixed amount of bar-shaped light in the main scanning direction. The drive unit (20) moves a reading line of the line sensor (11) and the bar-shaped light in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction. In the sub-scanning direction at a position where the illuminance of the bar-shaped line on the mounting surface is great, the control unit (40) decreases the light exposure time of the line sensor (11) and increases the moving speed of the reading line compared to that at a position where the illuminance is small.
