Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to commonly use a single motor with a simple configuration for moving a carriage and transporting a transcript. An abutment member stops, at a first position below a contact glass, the carriage moving from a second position side below a first end section of a platen glass. The motor, a first body gear (531), and a second body gear (541) are supported by the carriage. The first body gear and the second body gear are linked with the motor. A cover input gear (532) engages with the first body gear in a state in which the carriage is present at a position from the first position to a relay region. A main rack gear (542) engages with the second body gear in a state in which the carriage is present in a region from the relay region to a third position below the second end section of the platen glass. The load torque of the motor when the carriage is fixed is larger than the load torque of the motor when the cover input gear is fixed.
