An image reception device related to the present embodiment includes a tuner, an authentication unit, a transmission/reception unit, and a display unit. The tuner decodes program content from broadcast waves. The authentication unit authenticates whether or not use of the decoded program content is within the range of private use. The transmission/reception unit, upon successful authentication, encodes the program content and transmits the encoded program content to a server and, upon receiving an acquisition request from a user for obtaining a list of program content stored in the server, transmits the acquisition request to the server in order to receive the list. The display unit displays the list and the program content. When a playback request specifying playback of first program content among the program content included in the list is received from the user, the transmission/reception unit transmits the playback request to the server, receives the encoded first program content, and decodes the program content. The display unit displays the first program content.
