Abstract:
Provided are an image transmission/reception system, an image transmission device, an image reception device, an image transmission/reception method and a program wherein it is possible to generate, from image data representative of a downscaled image, an image that exhibits a higher resolution than the downscaled image and that is more similar to an original image than the downscaled image. An encoding unit (24) generates image data representative of a downscaled image to which an original image has been downscaled. An additional-data generation unit (26) generates, on the basis of the original image, additional data that cannot be determined only from the image data. A data transmission unit (28) transmits the image data and the additional data. A data reception unit (30) receives the image data and the additional data. An upscaling unit (34) generates, on the basis of the image data and the additional data, an upscaled image that exhibits a higher resolution than the downscaled image. A display control unit (36) causes the upscaled image to be displayed.
