Abstract:
Provided are: an imaging device that prevents glare resulting from light that leaks out from a subject display area of a display unit while in an OVF mode; and a control method therefor. A finder device (16) can be switched between the OVF mode and an EVF mode. A subject display area (46) and an information display area (47) are set in an EVFLCD (42). While in the OVF mode, the subject display area (46) of the EVFLCD (42) is not displayed and an information image is displayed in an information display area (47). An OVF shutter (44) is set to an open state. An EVF shutter (45) is set so that the optical transmittance of a first area (52) that corresponds to the subject display area (46) becomes low transmittance and the optical transmittance of a second area (53) that corresponds to the information display area (47) becomes high transmittance. The first area (52) that has been set to low transmittance blocks light that leaks from the subject display area (46).
