Abstract:
The present invention reduces power consumption in an imaging device for detecting the presence of an event. A plurality of transfer transistors is provided in a pixel array unit, said transistors transferring electric charge from mutually different photoelectric conversion elements to a floating diffusion layer. A scanning circuit simultaneously controlling the plurality of transfer transistors in a pixel addition mode for performing pixel addition to have the electric charges transferred, and sequentially controlling the plurality of transfer transistors in a normal mode for not performing pixel addition to have the electric charges transferred. An event detection unit detecting the presence of a prescribed event on the basis of an addition signal that is an analog signal generated in the normal mode and generating a detection result. A mode control unit setting a mode to either the pixel addition mode or the normal mode on the basis of the detection result.
